I'm going to clean up my earth,
And build a heaven on the ground,
Not something distant and unfound,
But something real to me.
So sang Paul Weller in his "Brand New Start". There are a few things I like about these lyrics. For one thing, they are a tonic to those of us who scorn the presence of organized religion in our society. The Modfather is saying that heaven (and hell also, I would add) is to be found within the human psyche. Also, the idea of self-improvement appeals to me - he's taking hold of his life and conciously altering it as he chooses. Readers, I need to get me some of that!

charmed, I'm sure
My name is Mr Knightley - I am a first-class gentleman in one of Jane Austen's novels. I have created this blog mainly as a bit of a laugh, but also because I quite fancy the notion that you can say stuff on a blog which might be considered odd were you to voice it in everyday conversation.
I'm not sure who I am imagining you the reader to be. I'd say there is a 99% chance that nobody but myself and the google cache will ever read this. But who knows? Maybe I will become obscenely famous one day, in which case you might be an historian of the future trying to understand the early days of Mr Knightley. What guff.
Anyway, I'll leave it there for now. Tomorrow, perhaps, I will write about something that I find interesting.
